The National Meteorological Service (SNM) in San Juan reports that Puerto Rico will experience a more active day in terms of rain on Friday, with passing showers in the morning and an increase in showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. A disturbance in the lower levels of the atmosphere has entered the region, increasing the amount of humidity available over Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
The weather pattern will be influenced by east-southeast winds, which will continue to be moderate to locally strong until Saturday. The SNM anticipates that the combination of higher humidity, cooler temperatures in the upper levels of the atmosphere, and favorable winds will make Friday the most active day of the period. There is a high risk of flooding, particularly in areas where intense and frequent rainfall occurs.
The northwest of Puerto Rico will require special attention due to the potential for rain accumulation in the afternoon. The SNM urges residents and visitors to stay alert to changes in weather conditions.
