The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTOP) has ordered the resumption of inspections for Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs) that meet the inspection requirements, allowing their owners to continue the registration process and obtain a license plate. DTOP Secretary Edwin González Montalvo instructed authorized personnel at the Centers for Driver Services (CESCO) to conduct inspections according to the official DTOP-DIS-360 form.

The inspection verifies safety and functionality aspects, including seat belts, windshield wipers, and horns, as well as insurance requirements. UTVs are designed for off-road use and are employed in various sectors in Puerto Rico, such as agriculture, construction, and emergency services. The administrative order, dated September 30, aims to avoid unjustified interruptions in the process that affect both dealers and citizens who purchase these vehicles. The instruction took effect immediately.
