Javier Mojica, a 42-year-old veteran shooting guard, will sign a new contract to return to the Vaqueros de Bayamón for the 2027 tournament. Mojica has spent nine consecutive seasons with the team and won his sixth championship in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league last August. His agent, José París, confirmed that Mojica will stay with the Vaqueros, saying it’s 'practically a done deal.'
Mojica averaged 10.7 points in 34 games with the Vaqueros in 2026 and reached 7,000 career points, becoming the 27th player in BSN history to achieve this milestone. The Vaqueros are seeking a third consecutive championship in 2027, which would be a first in the league since the Cangrejeros de Santurce’s dynasty from 1998 to 2001.
The team will be without former player Larry Ayuso as an assistant coach, as he was announced as the new head coach of the Capitanes de Arecibo.
