Faustino David Reyes Rodríguez, a 25-year-old Caguas resident and Senate employee arrested by federal authorities on Thursday in a child pornography case, was released on bail, according to his court file. At a hearing on Friday before federal magistrate Marcos E. López, bail was set at $5,000 unsecured. After he paid, the magistrate imposed conditions: no minors may stay overnight or visit the home where he stays during release, and he may not access the internet at home or at work.
He must remain home from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, leaving only for work-related activities, court hearings or medical appointments. He was placed under the supervision of Awilda González, a San Juan resident. The case became public Thursday when Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz posted the photo of the arrested man, an "office clerk/receptionist" in the Senate’s Protocol Office, and announced he would be removed from his post, saying he will not tolerate crime or corruption.
According to the federal indictment, between December 2025 and May 2026 Reyes-Rodríguez knowingly received and distributed child exploitation material. Between July 2024 and May 2026, he also allegedly kept child pornography images on his cell phone and tablet, including images of young children and prepubescent minors. A grand jury issued the arrest warrant on September 23, but he was not arrested until Thursday.
