Published Oct 3, 2026 · via El Nuevo Día

Judge María T. Hernández Calzada of the Caguas Tribunal found cause for arrest against Eduardo Abdiel Nieves and Juan Antonio Colón Morales for allegedly robbing a Puerto Rico Police sergeant at his Caguas residence. The sergeant was washing his vehicle when Nieves allegedly entered the property, pointed a firearm at him, and stole a gold chain and bracelet.

Nieves then fled in a Toyota RAV4 driven by Colón Morales, but was later arrested while walking on PR-52. The Police also recovered the stolen property from Nieves. The Caguas Prosecutor's Office charged them with aggravated robbery, trespassing, and receiving and transporting stolen goods, as well as possession, transportation, and use of firearms without a license.

The investigation was led by Agent Ángel Ramos López of the Caguas CIC. A preliminary hearing is set for October 13, and each defendant was given a $100,000 bond.
