The Centro de Bellas Artes de Caguas has added 28 prominent figures in art, culture, and literature to its permanent exhibition, Galería de Nuestros Artistas. The initiative honors the artistic and cultural legacy of Caguas, showcasing the city’s exponents through a photographic exhibit. According to Ivonne Class, executive director of Bellas Artes de Caguas, each of the 28 individuals represents a unique voice, trajectory, and interpretation of the world.
The honorees include artists, intellectuals, and cultural figures such as Iraida García Rosa, Jorge Armando, and Haydée Zayas, as well as posthumous tributes to notable figures like Gloria Burgos and Rubén González. Caguas Mayor William Miranda Torres highlighted the project’s value in preserving the collective memory of the municipality and the country, stating that recognizing those who have contributed to Puerto Rican artistic endeavors helps preserve the island’s memory and project its legacy towards future generations.
