The Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Educadores Puertorriqueños (COEP) will celebrate Cooperativism Month with a family day in Mayagüez, featuring educational, recreational, and community activities, as well as a recognition of meteorologist and science communicator Doctora Ada Monzón for her career and contributions to Puerto Rico. The event, under the slogan 'Cooperativismo y Familia: Unidos por un Futuro de Valores’, will take place this Friday, October 9, from 8:30 AM, at the Plaza Almirante Cristóbal Colón in Mayagüez.
COEP will dedicate the day to Monzón through a proclamation recognizing her professional trajectory, commitment to education, and work in Puerto Rican society. The event will include informational booths from entities such as the Puerto Rico Police, the Fire Department, Natural Resources, ASSMCA (the Mental Health and Anti-Addiction Services Administration), the American Cancer Society, and Northbridge University. There will also be games for children, a car exhibition, live paella, and other activities for families.
COEP will sell official t-shirts for $15, with the proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society to support its efforts against cancer.
