A fire broke out at a body shop, Quality Auto Body Repair, in the El Maní neighborhood of Mayagüez on Monday, causing over $300,000 in losses and destroying three cars. The fire was reported at 6:09 AM and firefighters from the state and municipal departments, led by Commander Rubén Velázquez Núñez, were able to extinguish the flames by 6:28 AM. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
The incident occurred at the shop’s location on kilometer 2.5 of PR-64. Nine firefighters responded to the scene with a state fire truck and a tanker.
