Participants in the Nutrition Assistance Program (PAN) who live in San Juan and Guaynabo can handle matters tied to their benefits on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18. The Family Department, through the Family Socioeconomic Development Administration (ADSEF), will hold special sessions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Coliseíto Pedrín Zorrilla in San Juan.
The event is open exclusively to residents of San Juan and Guaynabo and will handle recertifications, new applications and other PAN benefit matters. ADSEF said it expects to attend to and process more than 800 cases per day. Family Secretary Suzanne Roig Fuertes said in written statements: "We want to offer concrete alternatives that allow us to serve more participants and move forward the cases currently on hold. These sessions allow us to expand our service capacity and keep working to reduce wait times."
The sessions follow complaints from beneficiaries who reported problems completing recertification and receiving benefits, including difficulty getting an appointment, both online and at offices. Attendees should bring documentation related to their case, and ADSEF recommended bringing all available paperwork so the process can be completed during the visit. The Family Department also announced a satellite office dedicated exclusively to internal processing of pending cases, including recertifications, evaluations and PAN appointment-related matters.
No location or opening date was given. Roig Fuertes said the office will let the department concentrate resources and staff on pending cases without adding pressure to local offices.
