Gendy Rivera Nevárez, who gave birth to a baby girl at seven months gestation via emergency cesarean section after a traffic accident in Manatí, is eager to hold her daughter in her arms. Rivera Nevárez and her husband, Carlos Meléndez Guadalupe, were critically injured in the accident on September 26, along with their 13-year-old son.

According to Max Martínez Nieves, pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Vega Alta, Rivera Nevárez is recovering well and has been able to recall details of the accident and is now aware of her baby. The couple’s ventilators were recently removed, allowing them to communicate. Their son is also recovering from his injuries.

The baby girl is reportedly doing well and has responded to her brother’s voice. Meléndez Guadalupe is facing more difficulty in his recovery and is undergoing therapy to strengthen his lungs after a complicated operation. The family’s recovery has been described as miraculous by Martínez Nieves.
