The Police confirmed that security cameras captured the moment when a family’s car was hit by a vehicle in Manatí. Carlos Meléndez Guadalupe and his wife, Gendy Rivera Nevárez, who were returning from a baby shower, showed signs of improvement after being taken to the Centro Médico in Río Piedras in critical condition. The director of the Police Traffic Bureau, Captain Elvis Zeno, said the investigation is ongoing and that the municipality’s security cameras captured the incident, including the vehicle running a red light and hitting the family’s car.
The family, including their 13-year-old son, was injured on the night of September 26 at the intersection of PR-149 and PR-643 in Manatí. The couple’s condition improved after several days in critical condition, during which time Rivera Nevárez underwent an emergency cesarean section. The baby is in stable condition.
The Police will interview the family once they are able to and then present the evidence to the prosecutor.
