A 19-year-old man from Santa Isabel was arrested in Aguadilla on Monday, October 5, after a traffic stop for allegedly negligent driving turned into a drug-related admission. According to the Puerto Rico Police, the driver of a black Honda Accord was stopped on PR-2, kilometer 120.2, at 12:35 PM for reckless driving, including changing lanes and putting other drivers at risk.
During the stop, the driver allegedly pulled out a plastic bag containing several vials and placed it on the floor of the passenger area. After being read his rights, the young man allegedly made a voluntary admission related to controlled substances. The police found several vials of medication, marijuana, and paraphernalia in the bag, which were sent to the Drug Division for analysis and tested positive for marijuana and pills.
The case was reviewed with prosecutor Víctor Román, who instructed the seizure of the vehicle and the scheduling of a hearing for October 7 to possibly file charges. Agents Iván Y. Ramos Rivera and Sergeant Pedro L. Pellot Cordero, supervisor of the Aguadilla Highway Patrol, were in charge of the intervention.
