The town of Hatillo will change the operating hours of businesses that sell alcohol during the Halloween weekend. Mayor Carlos Román Román announced that as a preventive security measure, businesses will have to close and stop selling alcoholic beverages from 11:59 PM on Thursday, October 29, to Sunday, November 1, 2026. Hotels and inns in the town are exempt from these restrictions.

Businesses that do not comply with the new hours and alcohol sales ban will be subject to administrative fines of $500. This is the second consecutive year that the town has implemented these security measures, which aim to ensure the safety of citizens, especially during a time when the Police Department typically experiences staff shortages and large crowds gather.

The measures are part of Executive Order Number 6, Series 2026-2027, which amends the Public Order Code. The town will distribute copies of the order to businesses so they can make necessary adjustments.
