The town of Salinas and a group of musicians paid posthumous tribute to Toñito Ledée, a singer from the Sonora Ponceña, on the 40th anniversary of his death. The event, organized by Luis Miguel Díaz and hosted by Héctor Torres, took place on Saturday at the Sport Bar Área Code in Salinas. Ledée’s widow, Anita Colón, and son Omar Ledée were present and received a resolution from the town, which declared October 10, 2026, as 'Día de Coco Mania 100 x 35' in honor of Ledée.
The resolution praised Ledée’s career, which included his time with the Orquesta Segunda Parte and the Sonora Ponceña. Omar Ledée and his mother expressed gratitude to the town and the public for honoring his father’s legacy. Veteran salsero Luigi Texidor and trompetist Angelo 'Pocholó' Vélez also paid tribute to Ledée, with Texidor calling him 'a great pride of music' and Vélez saying that more tributes are needed to highlight his musical legacy.
The event featured a musical tribute by the 'Ponchi Band', which played some of Ledée’s greatest hits with the Sonora Ponceña, including 'Yambeque' and 'Como te quise yo'. Omar Ledée also performed a tribute to his father, singing 'Remembranza' and 'El amor'.
