Why this matters: The theft highlights the risk of property crime targeting tourists in popular areas like Loíza’s beaches.

A tourist from California had $55,000 in jewelry and watches stolen from her vehicle on Saturday morning in Loíza. The woman had parked her Hyundai Tucson near La Pocita on PR-187 to go to the beach. When she returned, she found that someone had entered her car and taken a plastic bag containing a Rolex watch, two Seiko watches, a gold bracelet, a gold chain with a cross, an emerald ring, and several medals awarded by the US Army.

Officer Ángel Pabón conducted the preliminary investigation and referred the case to the Property Crimes Division, which will continue the investigation. The stolen property was valued at $55,000 by the victim.
