Why this matters: For local farmers, producers, and restaurant owners, the event’s focus on locally produced ingredients and products could lead to new business opportunities and strengthen the island’s supply chain.

The Puerto Rico Restaurant Association (ASORE) will host its annual ASORE Restaurant Show on October 30-31 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center, promoting local products and growth in the island’s food service industry. ASORE President Dr. Sonia Navarro said restaurants can drive innovation and support economic development by using locally produced ingredients. The event will feature the 'Sabores de Nuestra Tierra' Demo Kitchen, where chefs will prepare dishes with Puerto Rican ingredients, and incorporate local products into bartender competitions.

The show will also include professional development programs, such as the Management Training Program and the ASORE Restaurant Summit, which will cover topics like restaurant operations, employment issues, and industry trends. Navarro emphasized the importance of keeping up with changes in employment law and investing in training to strengthen restaurant operations. The event aims to connect businesses across the island’s food service sector and encourage the use of locally produced goods.
