The mayor of Morovis, Carmen Maldonado González, announced the progress of the 'Physical Education Initiative for Homeschooling', a unique program in Puerto Rico. The initiative, led by the director of the Morovis Recreation and Sports Office, Luis Díaz, provides free physical education and swimming classes to homeschooled children. The program, which started on September 22, 2025, takes place every Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and is organized by age and learning needs.

The initiative has a regional reach, with participants from municipalities such as Naranjito, Aibonito, Corozal, Manatí, and Vega Baja. According to Maldonado González, the program has converted Morovis into a meeting point for homeschooling families from different towns, expanding the impact of the municipal sports resources beyond the municipality. The mayor stated that Morovis continues to create and facilitate sports, recreational, and educational alternatives that respond to different family needs and allow for the inclusive use of municipal resources.
