In Arecibo, Puerto Rico, thieves broke into the Econo supermarket on PR-2 in the Santana neighborhood early Tuesday morning, stealing $16,000 from the vault. According to the Police Press Office, one or more individuals forced open a side door and gained access to the store. They then forced open several doors to reach the office where the vault was located, breaking it open and taking the money.
The thieves also damaged the security camera system and took the recorder. Agent Axel Andújar Vélez, assigned to the Sabana Hoyos Precinct 207 in Arecibo, conducted a preliminary investigation and referred the case to the Property Crimes Division of the Arecibo CIC.
