A couple was detained in Bayamón on Thursday after police found around 500 Percocet pills, six firearms, and marijuana during a raid on a residence in the Hato Tejas neighborhood. The operation, carried out by agents from the United Rapid Action Forces’ (FURA) Intelligence Division, was part of an investigation into an alleged scheme to illegally distribute controlled substances.
The suspects, a 55-year-old man and his 60-year-old wife, allegedly sold the substances to buyers who came to the property. During the search, police seized four pistols, two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, magazines, and several bags of marijuana, in addition to the pills. Lieutenant David Díaz, director of the division, said the man had a valid license to carry firearms, but some of the seized weapons were not legally registered.
The authorities are trying to determine the origin of the medications and how they were acquired for distribution. The case will be consulted with the Bayamón Prosecutor’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which may take over the investigation due to the large quantity of controlled substances seized. The couple had no prior criminal records at the time of the arrest.
