The ferry schedule: the next boat to Vieques and Culebra

HMS Ferries, the company that manages Puerto Rico Ferries under a public-private partnership, announced the appointment of Varlin Vissepo as its new president and general manager, effective October 19. Vissepo will assume the direction of local operations and oversee a team of over 300 Puerto Rican employees. He replaces Matthew Miller, who will remain with the company and focus on developing new initiatives and business opportunities.

HMS Ferries took over the administration of the passenger and cargo transportation system to the municipalities of Vieques and Culebra in December 2021. Vissepo, a San Juan native, joins HMS Ferries from his previous role as director of Legal Affairs and corporate secretary at New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Miller expressed pride in the achievements and progress made under the partnership, which has strengthened the maritime transportation system.

Vissepo stated that he is honored to join the HMS Ferries team and looks forward to working with the staff, passengers, and partners to continue building on the system’s achievements.
