Why this matters: These incidents highlight the need for conflict resolution and violence prevention in Puerto Rico’s communities, such as Cayey and Juncos.

A fight between siblings in Cayey ended with one of them being hit with a plastic chair, according to the Police. The incident was reported at 7:15 AM on PR-14, kilometer 63.3, in Cayey. The police report states that the woman was hit on the head with the chair and was taken to a hospital in Cayey, where she received six stitches and was discharged.

Agent Edmillie Rodríguez, from the Cayey District, initially investigated the case, which was then referred to the Assault Division of the Caguas Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC). In a separate incident, a 29-year-old man was shot in the neck at a pub on PR-31 in Juncos at 12:51 AM. The man was taken to a Diagnostic and Treatment Center and is in stable condition. The Assault Division of the CIC in Caguas is investigating this case as well.
