The US federal prosecution has requested 32 years in prison for Luis Nomar Isaac Sánchez, known as 'CDobleta', for crimes related to drug trafficking and possession of an automatic weapon in a case that culminated in the murder of Puerto Rico Police Sergeant Eliezer Ramos Vélez. The request was presented on Friday through a sentencing memorandum, in which prosecutors recommended a sentence of 384 months in prison, the maximum contemplated in the plea agreement that the artist reached with federal authorities in June.
Isaac Sánchez pleaded guilty on June 11 before federal judge María Antongiorgi Jordán, in the US Federal District Court in Hato Rey. As part of the agreement, six charges were dropped, including one related to murder with the use of a firearm. However, two charges related to a conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and possession of an automatic weapon to promote a drug-related crime were maintained.
The case is related to the death of Ramos Vélez, which occurred on March 29, 2024, near the entrance of the Sabana Abajo public housing project in Carolina. In the memorandum, signed by federal prosecutor Laura Díaz González, the prosecution argued that Isaac Sánchez’s participation in the drug trafficking organization and in the events that led to the death of the police officer justifies imposing the maximum agreed-upon sentence.
The prosecution also requested prison sentences for other defendants in the case, including 34 years for Víctor Pérez Fernández, 28 years for Andyel González Sáez and Daniel López Vega, and 30 years and four months for Olvin O’Neill Concepción Tapia. The sentencing hearing for Isaac Sánchez and the other defendants is scheduled for October 21.
