A 17-year-old minor faces charges in Puerto Rico over the alleged shooting of a 21-year-old man on October 9 in the Pueblo Nuevo sector of San Germán. According to the investigation, Kelvin J. Pagán González was inside a gray 2023 KIA Río behind an old colmado and a flower shop between Diamante and Amatista streets when a white Toyota Corolla arrived and the minor got out and fired several shots at him.
The bullets went through the driver’s-side window, and one projectile lodged in the radius bone of his right arm; he was also wounded in both legs. Seven .40 caliber shell casings were recovered at the scene. Minor’s prosecutor Sandra Lebrón Rosado ordered filing charges of attempted murder under the Penal Code, plus weapons law charges for shooting or aiming a firearm and manufacturing, distributing, possessing, using and importing ammunition.
Judge Jeisa González Del Toro, of the Mayagüez court, found probable cause and ordered the minor’s apprehension; he was not identified because he is a minor. Pagán González was treated at the Hospital de la Concepción in San Germán by doctor Carlos Rodríguez and later transferred to a hospital in Río Piedras. The investigation was handled by agents José Montalvo Vélez, Carlos J. Sánchez Ruiz and Samuel Nieves, supervised by Sergeant Duamel González Irizarry of the Mayagüez Criminal Investigations Corps Homicide Division.
