The body of a woman was found Wednesday morning at the bottom of the three-foot-deep area of the pool at the Don Melanio Bobé Acevedo Sports Complex, on PR-345 in Hormigueros. According to the complaint, the alert call came in at 6:20 AM, when a maintenance employee spotted the body upon entering the pool area.
The deceased was identified as Dalimar Valentín Rodríguez, 22, a resident of that town. The body shows no visible signs of violence, so the autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) will determine the cause and manner of death. The pool is closed to the public on weekdays, and investigators were looking into how she gained access, possibly by jumping the fence.
The investigation is in the hands of the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigations Corps (CIC) of Mayagüez, along with the prosecutor on duty.
