A 22-year-old San Juan woman, Jorlianys Ayala Cruz, faces criminal charges for aggravated damage after a hit-and-run in San Juan, according to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau. Police say she fled the scene but did not notice that a piece of her vehicle was left behind, and tracing that part led investigators to her. The incident occurred on October 14, 2026, on calle Inglaterra in Barrio Obrero, where officers recovered a part from a 2023 Hyundai Venue belonging to her.

The case was consulted with a prosecutor, who presented the evidence before Judge Lisa M. Durán Ortiz of the San Juan court. The judge found probable cause for arrest and set bail at $2,000, which Ayala Cruz paid with borrowed money. Identified by police as a woman, she was booked and released pending a preliminary hearing.

The health condition of the person or people harmed by the crash, if any, is unknown at this time.
