The Facebook page Gongo Fishing PR publicly called out LUMA Energy and Genera PR this week over the sustained rise in electricity bills in Puerto Rico, demanding answers from both companies. On Wednesday, October 21, the page described visits to elderly people who, it said, cannot cover basic expenses because of the cost of electric service, quoting one resident who said she only gets about $800, relies on machines while sleeping, and could die if power is cut.

That post, which closed with the line "You owe us answers, Genera Puerto Rico, LUMA Energy," drew 5,100 reactions, 488 comments and 2,000 shares. A day earlier, on Tuesday, October 20, the page reported that LUMA Energy had contacted it to request its questions and invited it to meet to discuss Puerto Rico’s energy problems; the page asked followers whether it should attend and directed questions to Genera PR about why power generation costs so much, why an energy deficit persists, and what responsibility Genera bears in the crisis.

In a third post the same Tuesday, the page said more than half its followers face economic hardship from LUMA’s electric service costs, questioned what would happen if the average bill reaches $500 a month, and demanded "clear answers and concrete solutions" from LUMA. That post drew 2,700 reactions, 513 comments and 712 shares.
