Why this matters: The Santurce park supports about 80 jobs and 10 local food businesses, and has served as a launching pad for concepts that grew into restaurants and mall locations in Puerto Rico.

Miramar Food Truck Park (MFTP), the outdoor food truck gathering spot in Santurce, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with activities from October 23 to 25, including live music each day, a special anniversary menu and varied entertainment. Co-owner and co-founder Yareli Manning said people come to share, meet friends, spend time with family and listen to good music, not only to eat.

For the anniversary, the park is selling a MIRA-bites coupon at the entrance: $30 for 5 plates plus 1 bar drink, or $60 for 10 plates plus 2 drinks, one plate from each food truck. The music lineup runs Friday 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM with the electro band Turistas, Saturday 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM with Casa de la Plena Tito Matos, and Sunday 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the Soda Stereo tribute band Sonosfera.

The park began in 2016 with an investment of about $20,000, inspired by founders Yareli Manning and José González’s experience in Austin, Texas. Today it hosts 10 food concepts, including La Paz Pizza, Yummy Dumplings, El Jangiri Poke Bowls, Pa’l Pita, A la Chingada, La Chona, Le Creamery, D’Café Home and Leña eh, led by chef Rubén Guzmán, a 2024 James Beard Award semifinalist, and generates about 80 jobs. The administration plans a new stage of improvements to infrastructure, facilities and operating processes.
