Customers in Guaynabo Pueblo and nearby sectors could see low water pressure or interruptions in drinking water service on Friday after a pipe broke while the town was doing work on Carazo Street. José A. Rivera Ortiz, executive director of the Metro Region of the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (AAA), said in written statements that a Metro Region brigade went to the site early in the morning to make repairs, in coordination with the Municipality of Guaynabo.
He estimated the work would take about four hours. According to Rivera Ortiz, the break occurred during the morning while the municipality carried out work in the area, though he did not detail the circumstances that caused the incident. The Municipality of Guaynabo reported on its social media that Carazo Street remains closed because of the break near the School of Fine Arts.
The municipality said its personnel are in the area handling the situation and urged drivers to use alternate routes and proceed with caution while the work is completed. Rivera Ortiz said the agency maintains communication and coordination with the municipality to address the situation diligently and restore the system’s operational conditions as soon as possible.
