Carlos D. Rozada Almeyda, 26, was charged with aggravated arson, putting public safety at risk by firing a firearm, carrying, transporting or using firearms without a license, and shooting or pointing a firearm, after the Explosives Division of the Aguadilla area concluded an investigation. The case began on the morning of Friday, October 23, when a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System reported a malicious fire at the pickleball court grounds in the San Antonio neighborhood of Aguadilla.
Officers who arrived found a gray 2010 Infiniti vehicle on fire, with six bullet impacts on the rear left side of its body. The acts were charged against Rozada Almeyda, who was the vehicle’s owner. Judge Dinorah Mártir Haus, of the Aguadilla Court of First Instance, found probable cause on all charges and set a global bail of $100,000, which he did not post, so he was admitted to the Bayamón Correctional Complex. The investigation was led by agent Raúl Mercado, assigned to the Aguadilla-area Explosives Division.
