Wilson Ronda, a teen idol of the 1970s and former member of the second 'Club del Clan' musical group, returns to the stage on November 15 at 3:00 PM at the Bodega de Méndez in Ponce, in T-Danzant 'Tributo a José Luis Moneró'. The event, produced by veteran actor Joffre Pérez, will feature Moneró’s original orchestra, and will also honor Chupi Porrata, a well-known musician from the southern region.
Ronda said returning to sing in Ponce, where his career was supported early on, is a great honor and that he had not sung in the 'Ciudad Señorial' for four years, his last performance being with Los Geminis de Cabo Rojo, the group with which he began his career, at the Ponce Hilton hotel and the Club Deportivo. He will be accompanied by musical director José Nelson Ramírez, performing songs including 'Como antes’, 'Acompáñame', 'El sueño imposible' and 'A mi manera'.
Ronda recalled getting his television break thanks to Adbiel Colberg, then a top executive at Wapa Televisión, first appearing on 'El Show de Luis Vigoreaux' and later working with producer Alfred D’Herger alongside Glorivee, and hosting his own 30-minute show 'De ronda con Wilson Ronda'. In 1970 he represented Puerto Rico with 'El viejo teatro' at Mexico’s Festival de la Voz y la Canción, finishing in 11th place.
Over more than 40 years he has recorded six albums. Reservations: (787) 651-1999.
