A chlorine gas leak at the Laser Products Inc. factory in Juncos prompted a preventive evacuation on Monday morning. Joselyn Sanabria of the town’s Municipal Emergency Management Office (OMME) said traffic access was closed while the preventive evacuation was being handled, though an imminent danger was already reported to have passed. "They were about to start opening the area to traffic," Sanabria told El Nuevo Día.
The information was confirmed by Edgardo Ríos, press officer for the Puerto Rico Police Bureau’s Caguas district command, who also noted that the response was handled by municipal personnel. No people affected by the incident had been reported at the time of the report.
