The Senadores de San Juan will retire the number 9 worn by former Major League Baseball star and Puerto Rico professional baseball figure Carlos Baerga in a ceremony on Thursday, November 5 at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan. Baerga wore the number for 12 seasons with the franchise. He was a three-time MLB All-Star and won two Silver Sluggers.

In the Puerto Rico professional league, he was the most valuable player in the 1989-90 season and is the only person to win championships as player, manager, general manager and team owner: he won titles with Bayamón as player, general manager and owner in 2001-02, and as manager led the Indios de Mayagüez to the championship in 2013-14. Baerga, now a sports analyst, thanked God, his family and the Senadores management on social media, singling out team president Jesús Del Valle, One Alliance CEO Rafael Cedeño, and Hall of Fame member Roberto Alomar.

He was also part of the iconic 'Dream Team' that won the 1995 Caribbean Series unbeaten, alongside Juan 'Igor' González, Carlos Delgado, Roberto Alomar, Bernie Williams and Edgar Martínez, among others.
