Why this matters: Households in the affected towns, including Gurabo, Santa Isabel and Utuado, could lose power during Thursday’s scheduled interruptions.
LUMA Energy will carry out maintenance, repair and modernization work on the electric grid this Thursday, October 29, in various towns across Puerto Rico, work that could require scheduled power interruptions in 15 towns, according to the company’s notice. The jobs include removing dangerous vegetation, repairs to the underground system, upgrades to substations, replacement of electrical lines and equipment, and work to make poles more resilient.
Some of these tasks may require planned service interruptions, while others will be performed without affecting the power supply. Among the towns named for the work are Gurabo, Santa Isabel and Utuado.
