The Puerto Rico program 'Ahí Está La Verdad' premiered the second season with the special 'El Invader: Sin Máscaras’, a conversation with José Huertas González, known as El Invader 1, one of the island’s legendary wrestlers, now 80 years old. A native of San Lorenzo, Huertas González recounted how he fell in love with wrestling, saying he always aspired not to be just one of the crowd.
He described his first steps in the ring and the company that initially signed him in Oklahoma, before he worked in Florida, Georgia and Texas. He shared photos and memorabilia from his career, including a 1972 image from Madison Square Garden and pictures with Ric Flair, whom he faced several times, and spoke about the injuries he suffered and what the mask meant to him.
The 'Jibarito de San Lorenzo' also discussed his family and his wife, to whom he has been married for 42 years, with whom he has three children, and what a wrestler’s private life is like outside the ring. One major topic was the death of American wrestler Frank Donald Goodish, known as Bruiser Brody, who died of stab wounds at the Juan Ramón Loubriel stadium on July 16, 1988.
Huertas González, the main suspect, faced first-degree murder and weapons-law charges in a five-day trial and was acquitted by a jury. He reiterated that the incident was self-defense after an exchange between the two.
