Jay Fonseca Presses Treasury Secretary to Act on Power Expectations Dispute

Why this matters: A government contract dispute over attorney-client privilege touches the transparency of how Puerto Rico’s Treasury and public-private partnership contracts are overseen.

Political analyst Jay Fonseca, on the show Los Datos Son Los Datos, questioned the inaction of Treasury Department Secretary Ángel Pantoja Rodríguez amid the controversy over the Power Expectations contract. Fonseca noted that Pantoja sits on the board of the Public-Private Partnerships Authority (AAPP), which has still not ordered Josué Colón Ortiz to waive the attorney-client privilege, a step that would allow attorney Juan González Galarza to testify.

He added that the board has the authority to determine whether the privilege is waived and said Pantoja has the opportunity to convene the body to address the issue and demonstrate his position.
