The Puerto Rican animated film "OSKÄR", written, produced and directed by Ariel Orama López (AG Orloz), was selected to open the official program of the 12th Explorers Festival, organized by The Exploration Museum in Húsavík, Iceland, where it will screen November 18-22, 2026 for an audience of explorers, scientists and filmmakers from around the world. The film, which blends traditional animation with artificial intelligence and stars a space movie projector with AI searching for identity and purpose, features volcanic landscapes, glaciers and northern lights that mirror its new subarctic venue.

With animation and sound design by Jorge Dardo Cáceres, the dialogue-free film combines original music and real soundscapes. To date it has earned 14 international distinctions and 31 official selections in the United States, Iceland, Croatia, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, Poland, Turkey, Hungary, India, Australia and Uruguay. Recent honors include finalist for Best Animated Film at the 8th National Independent Association Film Awards in Wisconsin and a nomination for The Americas Award in animation at the 13th The Americas Film Festival New York (TAFFNY), held at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Orama López said the film carries "the flag of Puerto Rico and Caribbean independent cinema to the far north of the planet."
