A 25-year-old man was hospitalized early Monday after the four-track all-terrain vehicle he was apparently driving fell down a slope of about 100 feet in Bayamón. The Puerto Rico Police Bureau received a 9-1-1 call around 3:08 AM reporting the incident at kilometer 11.7 of PR-167 in the Dajaos neighborhood. Paramedics treated the man at the scene and took him to the Río Piedras Medical Center, where his condition was described as serious.
Highway Patrol Division director Lieutenant Kamilo Padín said the man’s uncle called police after family members spent time searching for him because he had not come home. They had been together since the previous day until he left, and while checking the route he usually takes home they spotted him on the slope, Padín told WAPA TV.
The officer did not identify a specific cause, telling TeleOnce only that the driver 'loses control and command, and falls down a slope of approximately 100 feet.' Because a four-track is not authorized to travel on public roads, once the vehicle is extracted with a police crane it will be seized and taken to the Confiscation Board, Padín said.
