A 57-year-old man suffered head wounds and trauma after his off-road 'four track' vehicle lost its brakes, hit a slope and overturned in Humacao, according to the Puerto Rico Police Bureau. The accident happened at about 9:06 AM on the Los Morenos road, in the La Rolina sector of the Mabú barrio. A 9-1-1 call alerted police to a crash involving an overturned vehicle.

Police identified the driver as Samuel Bonilla Torres, 57, who was driving a black, low-speed off-road vehicle of the Huansong brand. According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle suffered mechanical failures in the brake system, leaving him without control of the brakes. He lost control of the steering wheel, struck a slope and the vehicle overturned.

Emergency medical personnel treated Bonilla Torres and transported him to the Río Piedras Medical Center for specialized care. Agent Luis Díaz Torres, assigned to the Humacao district, led the preliminary investigation, and the case was referred to agent Fermín de Jesús of Humacao’s Highway Patrol Division.
