The Museum of Las Américas in Old San Juan has scheduled two public events for November. On Wednesday, November 4 at 6:00 PM, it will present the book Un grito en la mano by Garvin Sierra Vega, tied to his 2022 exhibition at the museum in which the artist showed more than 200 posters in digital and printed formats.
The book collects the themes most discussed in the media in recent years. Ana Teresa Toro, Antonio Martorell, Humberto Figueroa and Teresa Tió will share their perspectives on the publication and its artistic proposal at Humanidades Puerto Rico, on the third floor of the Cuartel de Ballajá. On Thursday, November 5 at 6:30 PM, director Benito Márquez will lead the talk Un Tumbao Caribeño at the museum, with an exclusive preview of his short documentary Salsa: Un Tumbao Caribeño and a conversation with the audience.
The event is part of the initiative Tiznando el País: Visualidades y Representaciones. During November, visitors can see the temporary exhibition El cuerpo, entre las texturas de la vida y de la muerte by Amanda Carmona Bosch, the poster collection of the Puerto Rico Humanities Foundation, and the permanent exhibitions, including Las Artes Populares en Las Américas, Santos de Palo de Puerto Rico, El Indígena de Las Américas, Conquista y Colonización and Herencia Africana. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students, seniors with ID and children.
