ETH Cargo Services on Tuesday inaugurated its new facilities in Carolina, a roughly $5.1 million investment expanding its storage and specialized logistics infrastructure for the pharmaceutical, bioscience and medical device industries. Governor Jenniffer González and Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC) Secretary Carlos J. Ríos Pierluisi took part in the opening. The project comprises a first facility in operation of 10,248 square feet, with an investment of about $1.9 million, and a second facility under construction of 16,709 square feet, with an estimated $3.2 million investment, together 26,957 square feet.

The site has dry space, temperature and environment-controlled areas and refrigerated areas for preserving medicines’ quality and stability, along with humidity control. ETH Cargo is actively recruiting to reach a payroll of 27 employees, nine more than the existing 18. Ríos Pierluisi said the DDEC is backing the growth with $437,215 in incentives for machinery, equipment and job creation, and that the expansion will strengthen inventory management, shipment consolidation and dispatch coordination, reduce losses from temperature variations and preserve the cold chain.

The company said its Carolina location gives access to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, the Port of San Juan and main metropolitan highways. Founded in 2001, ETH Cargo has 25 years in Puerto Rico offering air and maritime logistics, storage, distribution, customs clearance, inventory control and logistics consulting services.
