FirstBank marked its 78th anniversary by highlighting the fifth edition of 'UNO te da la Mano', its annual corporate volunteering initiative that has brought together employees from different areas and locations across Puerto Rico since 2019 to support nonprofits and community projects. The initiative began in 2019 as part of the bank’s 70th-anniversary commemoration and is held each October.
Over its five editions, it has mobilized more than 600 employees and generated over 2,300 hours of community service, with FirstBank investing more than $60,000 in materials and resources for the volunteer projects. Beyond this event, between 2022 and 2025 the bank’s volunteering initiatives mobilized more than 1,800 employees, who contributed over 9,500 hours of community service to a total of 143 nonprofits and community entities.
This year, about 140 employees supported 10 organizations around Puerto Rico, including Fundación CAP, Iniciativa Comunitaria Villa Capri, Fundación Puertorriqueña del Riñón, Centro Espibi, Centro Sor Isolina Ferré, FUNDESCO, CODERI, Blooming House, Casa de Niños Manuel Fernández Juncos and Humane Society of Puerto Rico. Nayda Rivera Batista, executive vice president, principal Consumer officer and director of Corporate Personnel at FirstBank, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting the well-being and development of Puerto Rico over its 78-year history.
