The disappearance of four-year-old Rolando Salas Jusino, also known as Rolandito, on July 7, 1999, from a park in the Colinas del Plata urbanization in Toa Alta, remains one of the most notorious cases of missing children in Puerto Rico. The case drew media attention due to its circumstances and the numerous efforts by law enforcement agencies to locate the child or clarify his disappearance. Roberto Gotay Valcárcel, the ex-partner of Rolandito's mother, Iris Jusino, was a suspect from the beginning.
Gotay Valcárcel had visited Jusino's residence despite a protection order and asked to take Rolandito to buy a bicycle, but was denied. A witness reported that a man matching Gotay Valcárcel's description took Rolandito from the park. Although Gotay Valcárcel has been arrested and imprisoned several times in Puerto Rico and Florida, he has never been directly linked to Rolandito's disappearance.
The Puerto Rico Police, FBI, Interpol, and other agencies have made multiple attempts to find Rolandito, traveling to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Florida, and other areas, but all efforts have been unsuccessful. Today, Rolandito would be 31 years old.
