Miguel Vega, a resident of the La Guasábara sector, had to relocate his Father's Day celebration due to the water crisis affecting the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (AAA). The crisis, which has impacted tens of thousands of customers, began on June 12 with an announcement of the first of three ruptures in one of the Superacueducto lines.

A fourth rupture occurred the following week, affecting the flow of water to the Finca Rosso 2 pumping plant and leaving around 27,000 people without service. Vega, who has been without water since June 12, has been using a cistern and a portable cisterna to conserve water for himself, his wife, and his six-year-old dog.
The president of the AAA, Luis González Delgado, stated that repair work would take until Friday and that the recovery would be faster than previous repairs. Despite this, the situation remains dire for Vega and thousands of other families affected by the crisis.
