The Azucareros de Yabucoa and Pescadores del Plata de Comerío have secured their second victory in the recently started Double A Baseball Champions Carnival. Both teams lead the round-robin standings with a 2-0 record.
Yabucoa defeated the Petateros de Sabana Grande 5-3, ending their nine-game winning streak, with Cristian González pitching six innings and allowing three runs. Comerío, meanwhile, shut out the defending champion Mulos de Juncos 4-0, with Héctor Hernández pitching seven innings and striking out eight.
Other games saw the Libertadores de Hormigueros defeat the Maratonistas de Coamo 10-2, and the Tigres de Hatillo beat the Gigantes de Carolina 2-1, with Rawell Rivera pitching a complete game. The current standings are Yabucoa and Comerío at 2-0, Sabana Grande at 1-1, and Juncos at 0-2.
