A 78-year-old man, Dámaso Concepción Correa, died in a traffic accident that occurred on PR-681 highway in the Islote neighborhood of Arecibo. The incident was reported at 1:32 p.m. through the 911 emergency system after Correa's vehicle, a white Toyota Corolla, crashed into a concrete post and an almond tree. According to the investigation led by Agent Rafael Vega Miranda, Correa was driving at a speed higher than permitted and lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the fatal accident.
Correa, a resident of Arecibo, died instantly from his injuries. Prosecutor Ramon W. Ayende Sánchez ordered the vehicle to be seized for forensic purposes.
The accident occurred at kilometer 4.9 of the PR-681 highway.
