Updated Jun 22, 2026 · via Primera Hora

The Municipality of Carolina has activated a comprehensive security plan for the celebration of Noche de San Juan, a popular summer tradition in Puerto Rico. The plan, which will run from 8:00 AM on Tuesday to 8:00 AM on Wednesday, aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors at the town's beaches. Mayor José Carlos Aponte announced that the plan includes the deployment of over 100 municipal personnel, including units for traffic control, preventive patrolling, and maritime surveillance.

The plan will focus on seven main entry points to the beaches in Isla Verde and PR-187, with special attention to the Balneario de Carolina, Playa El Alambique, and Avenida Isla Verde. The Balneario de Carolina will be open to the public from 8:00 AM on Tuesday to 1:00 AM on Wednesday. The security strategies will extend throughout the weekend.

Mayor Aponte stated that the goal is for families to enjoy the celebration with peace of mind, knowing that a security component is in place to respond to any situation. Four remote monitoring units with security cameras will be deployed, and a mobile police unit will operate from Calle Tartak. The Mobile Command Center will be located at the Balneario de Carolina to coordinate operations in real-time.
