Avelo Airlines will launch two new routes to Rafael Hernández Airport (BQN) in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, announced the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (CTPR). The flights will originate from Orlando/Lakeland, Florida, and Tweed/New Haven, Connecticut, starting November 18 and 19, with two weekly frequencies.
These flights will add approximately 40,000 seats and generate an estimated $13.8 million impact for Puerto Rico. Governor Jenniffer González Colón stated that the expansion of Avelo Airlines to Aguadilla strengthens economic activity in the western region, supporting small and medium-sized businesses and increasing visitor movement throughout the year.
CTPR Executive Director Willianette Robles Cancel highlighted the company's commitment to promoting air access as a vital component for developing tourism. The new routes are expected to create new job opportunities, excursions, and tourist products in the western, central, and southern regions of the island.
