Multiple Absences in Puerto Rico's Roster for FIBA Qualifiers

The Puerto Rico Basketball Federation presented the 12 players who will represent the island in the third FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying window, with several notable absences. The team is led by point guard José Alvarado, a new NBA champion with the New York Knicks, and debutant forward Enrique Freeman. Other players include Gian Clavell, Stephen Thompson Jr., Ethan Thompson, Isaiah Piñeiro, Alfonso Plummer, Ysmael Romero, Arnaldo Toro, and Alexander Kappos.

Jezreel de Jesús and Devon Collier return to the team, directed by Carlos González. Notably absent are George Conditt IV, Jordan and Markus Howard, André Curbelo, and Tyler Davis. According to Yum Ramos, president of the federation, Conditt IV communicated that he did not feel prepared for the qualifying window, while Curbelo and Davis are injured.

Ramos emphasized the team's focus on the available players, including three who played in the NBA this year.
