Puerto Rico's national basketball team, led by coach Carlos González, lost 110-84 to Canada on Friday in the third window of the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers. The team, missing star player José Alvarado, fell to 1-4 in Group B and will play a crucial game against the Bahamas on Monday. Canada's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dillon Brooks, both NBA stars, led their team with 25 and 15 points, respectively.

Puerto Rico's Ysmael Romero scored 17 points, while Enrique Freeman debuted with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Coach González noted that the team did not play their best basketball in the first quarter but competed in the next period. The team committed six errors in the first 10 minutes and was dominated 31-19 by Canada.

Puerto Rico will face the Bahamas, who improved to 2-3 after beating Jamaica 123-74, in a decisive game on Monday.
