The Rones de Puerto Rico program, part of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), has entered into a commercial alliance with four Major League Baseball (MLB) teams: the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Miami Marlins, and Tampa Bay Rays. This alliance will allow Puerto Rican rum brands to have a presence throughout the year on the League's commercial platforms, reaching millions of consumers through games, special events, fan experiences, corporate activities, promotional initiatives, and commercial opportunities in markets like New York and Florida. The agreement, announced on Friday at an event in Old San Juan, was led by Governor Jenniffer González Colón and DDEC Secretary Carlos J.
Ríos Pierluisi. González Colón described the agreement as a 'historic achievement for one of Puerto Rico's most emblematic, successful, and important industries.' Ríos Pierluisi added that the alliance represents a validation of the strength of the Puerto Rican rum industry and its potential as a strategic partner. Carlos B.
Herrero Vázquez, director of the Rones de Puerto Rico program, explained that the project aims to transform the program from a promotion-focused model to one directed at sales, distribution, and market growth.
